It’s so easy to create content to market your company – and that’s the dangerBack in the day – you know, before social media, before blogging, even before websites – if you wanted to publicise your company, you had to get someone else to do it for you.
If you were big, you paid for a TV ad. If you were small, you got a local agency to knock up a half-page for the parish magazine.

At this time, businesses have found new ways of supporting each otherThis vine has many branches. We have had the privilege of working with the Vine Centre in Aldershot for three years now (www.thevinecentre.org.uk). With the aim of helping the most disadvantaged members of society, mostly in the past through face-to-face contact, the charity has had to completely rethink how it delivers its services in the face of Covid-19.

The light at the end of the tunnel………
Is it too optimistic to say that with some relaxation of the lockdown there is a partial return to some sort of business activity? How deeply do you think about your business? Whatever else Covid-19 has given business – disruption, distancing, dislocation, desperation – it has perhaps also given some of us more time to think. I think we can all agree on the Future Point all businesses are looking forward to at the moment!
Sometime this will all be over and we can get back to some sort of normality. In the meantime, you have to carry on, and we have to carry on. Our move to great new offices means we’re even better placed to get your marketing working harder for your business.
Lessons for Business from the Snooker Table.
A long overdue indulgence of mine this year has been to watch the World Snooker Championship. It has been years since I have felt able to give time to the many sessions that are played out over the 17-day event. Of course, I haven’t been able to see every match. Who can? But for me and from what I have seen the Betfred World Championship 2019 has been a festival of sporting excellence, drama and adventure. Are you one to cry at the movies? When watching especially gripping and emotional scenes on television or when at the Theatre how do you react?
The truth is that it isn't long before I'm welling up at a relationship break-down, some form of injustice or even the death of a vulnerable animal on screen. Knowing the end goal and what our 'eating-the-blades-of-grass' moment should be like.
Can you remember the day when you first decided what you would be? For reasons I am yet to fully understand I wanted to be a bus driver. In those days, buses were quite monstrous to drive, with nothing of the power assisted steering that modern vehicles have today. Facilities for receiving fares were decades away from the 'Contactless' card transactions buses now have. And, the propensity for buses to break down and to cause passenger delays and inconvenience brought stress and strain to all involved. Nevertheless, for me at that time there was something quite magical about how a relatively small turn on a large steering wheel could heave the huge charabanc, upon which I regularly travelled, into the direction of the next stop and beyond. |
