The Light at the End of the Tunnel16/5/2020 The light at the end of the tunnel……… Is it too optimistic to say that with some relaxation of the lockdown there is a partial return to some sort of business activity?  Whatever you think, at more than 7 weeks into the process now, it is perhaps worth considering how your company might look, might act and might appear to your customers, in the longer term.
Marketing activity may have been the furthest thing from your mind in the last few weeks. The businesses that hit the Pause Button on their trading have had no need of it. The companies that thrived in these peculiar circumstances – perhaps those associated with healthcare or essential retail – would have had all the trading that they could deal with anyway. But, as we said in our last blog – and if you’ve got a moment – it is worth considering what activity might be appropriate when. ……..is usually that of an oncoming future point The ‘when’ is tricky! Let’s just agree it’s some future point before or after we know when certain additional restrictions will be lifted. The ‘what’ may be easier to determine – or to make a list of, in any case. It could be some kind of campaign – using social media perhaps, maybe utilising the power of video. It may involve a special offer of some sort – discounts, something free, or including a charitable dimension. Whatever it is, and whenever it is, any campaign or change must be carefully designed and worded. We will all appreciate by now that no one likes the hard sell at a time like this. So the tone of your marketing needs close consideration. Food 4 thought?
